Everywhere you turn there’s a guide to hot new 2011 travel destinations but it seems the celebrities are all heading for Tulum in Mexico, which is being billed as the new Goa by those in the know.

Actress Jaime Winstone, singer Natalie Imbruglia and All Saints star Mel Blatt all decamped to the beachside resort for the New Year celebrations.

So what’s the attraction? Well, apart from stunning beaches, yoga on the beach, lots of sunshine and the chance to spot baby turtles, the open-air restaurant at Tital Tulum is also proving to be quite a draw for the stars who are enamoured with its legendary ceviche dish and impressive views of the Caribbean Sea.

The low-key resort on Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula also offers cave diving, kite surfing and snorkelling and, perhaps most importantly, the chance to escape the crowds of Cancun and Playa del Carmen.

Plus, it’s close to Mayan ruins and culture vultures will be in awe of the famous Mayan citadel, a temple perched on 40ft cliffs above the Caribbean Sea, which is the resort’s star turn.
