London, Jan 26 (ANI): British singer Sir Elton John is set to perform at the archaeological site of Chichen Itza in Mexico later this year. John, 62, who will be taking to the stage at the Mayan ruins on April 3, will be following in the footsteps of opera greats Luciano Pavarotti and Placido Domingo, reports the Daily Express. The Rocket Man will be singing in the same spot as Pavarotti did in 1997 and Domingo in 2008. The concert had earlier not been confirmed, due to the recent excavations at the foot of El Castillo, but now Yucatan state officials have said the show will go on as planned as the stage will be set on the opposite side of the great pyramid

Fue a través de la gobernadora del estado de Yucatán, Ivonne Ortega Pacheco, que se dio a conocer la noticia, por lo que señaló: “Ya está firmado el contrato con Elton John, por lo que el 3 de abril estará ofreciendo su concierto”. De igual forma, mencionó que para esta ocasión tan especial el cantante británico pretende realizar una ceremonia muy particular: quiere dar a conocer su piano desde la salida de su casa y hacer la transportación del instrumento por barco hasta su llegada a Yucatán.
